Meet Jan
After a career in arts and humanities administration, I discovered my life’s calling. I graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Master of Science in Counselor Education. I am also licensed to supervise provisional counselors. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, and an active member of Phi Kappa Phi, International Honor Society.
I began counseling with Addiction Recovery Resources of New Orleans (now called Avenues Recovery) outpatient program, and created the curriculum for the application phase of the St. Charles Parish drug court program liaison. In 2018 I transitioned to Bridge House residential as program counselor, providing group and individual therapy, as well as administering Addiction Severity Index evaluations. In 2022 I was promoted to Clinical Director, where I contributed educational program upgrades, enhanced client services, and led a professional counseling staff. In 2023 I transitioned to private practice, where it is now my pleasure to work with clients who are choosing to change their lives for the better.
My Approach
I offer a strengths-based approach, and strategies grounded in practical goals. My work is existential, in that I help clients make meaning and a way forward from the challenging experiences and thoughts with which they struggle. I collaborate with clients to find meaning, achieve clarity, find purpose, and integrate their experience of spirituality, with the aim of embodying a more enriched, hope-filled life.
My current practice is general clinical, with focus on trauma recovery and client advocacy. I also work with elder clients in their care homes with reminiscence therapy. I welcome all ages, with the exception of children under 16. My office hours are currently 8AM-12PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, but may increase as needed. I see clients during other times through teletherapy.
