My core belief about the process of therapy, or my counseling theory, is existential-that we all need to be able to make meaning of our suffering. Existential process is highly collaborative and open to the use of various interventions in service of moving from pain to purpose.
I have two master’s degrees, a master’s in secondary education from Loyola, New Orleans in 2000, and a master’s in counselor education from Loyola, New Orleans in 2002. I completed all doctoral courses at the University of New Orleans. I am currently working on eligibility to facilitate preparatory sessions and integration therapy for psychedelic assisted treatment.
I became a licensed counselor in 2004 and have been in private practice either full or part time since 2008.
Currently I am in full time private practice as an independent practitioner in the Guided Path Healing collaborative. I have experience in inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment. I did DWI assessments and facilitated a weekly group for DWI offenders at First Parish Court of Jefferson for fifteen years. I have presented at my state conferences and taught an online course in substance use disorders for Nicholls State University. I also presented staff trainings for Addiction Recovery Resources, or ARR (now Avenues) and have done critical incident debriefings for ARR. Post Katrina I facilitated a support group for staff at River Oaks Hospital and presented education on acute stress disorder and its treatment for employees of Domino Sugar. I have supervised counselors working on their master’s degrees as well as those working on licensure.
My current practice is a general clinical practice with areas of special interest in trauma and women’s issues. I see ages 16 and up and provide individual and group therapy. I work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1-7PM.
